MSEUF delivers entrepreneurial skills through 'Hatid Kaalaman Program' to 4Ps parents

The College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, in partnership with the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research (IGSR), Community Relations Department (CRD), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Lucena City local government unit, held the Hatid-Kaalaman Sa Pagnenesgosyo: Dole Out Program, Jan. 11.

To empower participants to support their families and contribute to their communities, the program trained parents of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in entrepreneurial skills and financial literacy, helping them shift from dependency to self-reliance.

“This program reflects our commitment to serving the community by equipping individuals with the tools they need to build sustainable livelihoods,” Dr. Flormando Baldovino, dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, said.

“We believe entrepreneurial education can be a powerful driver of change for families and communities," Dr. Baldovino added.

Parents received training on starting small businesses, managing finances, and planning for long-term sustainability. The program encouraged active participation to ensure the application of the lessons in real-life settings.

Dr. Baldovino emphasized the importance of the collaborative effort. “This partnership between the university, local government, and DSWD demonstrates how institutions can work together to address community needs effectively,” Dr. Baldovino shared.

The program supports the goal of empowering families to break the cycle of poverty and underscores the university’s role in fostering economic and social development. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting the potential impact on their livelihoods.

The initiative highlights the shared vision of its stakeholders to uplift communities through education and capacity-building programs.

The program aligns with multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  • SDG 1 (No Poverty): Ensuring access to basic needs such as food, shelter, and healthcare.
  • SDG 2 (Zero Hunger): Promoting better food security and health for families.
  • SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): Encouraging fair work and fostering economic progress.
  • SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): Equipping disadvantaged families with skills to create equal opportunities.
  • SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals): Strengthening collaborations to support community development.
