EU's Hernandez, Surio win dancesport championship medals in Davao
Gian Carlo Hernandez and Cairistiona Catriona Surio of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) Dancesport Team once again demonstrated their exceptional talent, emerging as champions in the Intercollegiate Grade B Standard category and claiming silver in the Grade C Standard category, Aug. 11, held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Gymnasium.
Hernandez and Surio competed at the 3rd Davao Battle of the Champions Dance Sport Championships and the Philippine Dance Sport Federation (PDSF) National Ranking, where the event featured 131 competitors and included participants from various educational levels, as well as dancesport enthusiasts from the Philippines and Singapore.
Judges from Korea, Germany, and the Philippines oversaw the competition, ensuring a high standard of evaluation.
The dancesport couple's coach, Liezl Villadiego, served as their trainer. Coach Villadiego acknowledged the dedication and hard work of Hernandez and Surio in achieving their success.
Their success is not just about winning titles; it's a testament to the countless hours of practice, the sacrifices they made, and their unwavering commitment to mastering the art of dancesport. They have truly earned this recognition through their hard work and determination," she remarked.
"In the dancesport world, Grade B Standard and Grade C Standard categories are differentiated by the difficulty and skill required. The Grade B Standard category involves more complex techniques and routines, demanding a higher level of precision and artistry. Meanwhile, the Grade C Standard category, while still competitive, is considered a step below in terms of complexity and is often a platform for dancers to refine skills before advancing to higher levels." Coach Villadiego added.
