77th Founding Anniversary celebration kicks off with reverence and gratitude

The Enverga University community offered a thanksgiving mass in the 77th Foundation Anniversary at the University gymnasium. Rev. Fr. Ferdinand I. Maaño, University chaplain, officiated the holy celebration. Dr. Renato M. Vergara was mass commentator, Feb. 12. 

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Maaño exhorted the audience to spend a moment of reflection and gratitude for the milestones the university has attained for 77 years. 

Dr. Augusta Rosario Villamater, overall chairperson of the 77th Foundation and director of the University Libraries, gave the First Reading, while Dr. Divina Glifonea, dean of the College of Education,  read the Responsorial Psalm. Director Maria Isabel Granada, director of the Office of Scholarships, Endowment, Job Placement and Alumni Relations, led the community in the Prayers of the Faithful. 

During the liturgy of the Eucharist, President/COO Naila Leveriza, offered the Ciborium, joined by Vice President for External Relations Celso Jaballa, Vice President for Administration Dario Opistan, General Services Director Engr. Ariel V. Nicolas, Dean Claudia Odette Ayala of the College of Arts and Sciences, offering cruets, lighted candles, and flowers, respectively. 

Representing their respective colleges, the academic deans namely Ar. Jennifer Sanchez of the College of Architecture and Fine Arts, Dr. Flormando Baldovino of the College of Business and Accountancy, Dr. Henedina  Lagumen of the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology,  Dean Rodrigo Belleza of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies, Dr. Divina Glifonea of the College of Education, Dr. Maricel Herrera of the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Engr. Cielito Maligalig of the College of Engineering, Dr. Maria Corazon  Valdeavilla of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Capt. Crispino O. Portes of the College of Maritime Education, Felomena Quizana, president of the University Collegiate Student Council, and Sonia Durante, president of the non-teaching personnel, offered ceremonial gifts. 

A wreath laying ceremony followed after the thanksgiving mass at the late founder Dr. Manuel S. Enverga’s newly renovated monument with President Leveriza and her husband Dennis Leveriza, Sr. leading the wreath laying. 

Executive officers led by Senior Vice President and Vice President for Academics and Research Dr. Benilda Villenas, along with students, guests, heads, directors, and representatives from various departments joined the wreath laying.  

The activity concluded with the singing of the University Hymn “Maroon and White Forever.” 

Office of Student Affairs and Services Director Joana Fe Panganiban and staff arranged and prepared the Thanksgiving mass and wreath laying ceremony for the Enverga community. 

 

The event reflects the university's dedication to creating a positive impact and contributing to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. The mass promotes unity, gratitude, and a sense of community, contributing to peace and justice within the MSEUF community. This ceremony honors the legacy of Dr. Manuel S. Enverga Sr. and emphasizes the importance of strong institutions in fostering peace and justice. It reinforces the importance of strong institutions by upholding traditions and values that promote unity and remembrance.
