Enverga University invests in 'Green Initiative,' launches P5.7M Grid-Tied Solar Power Project
The Technical Working Group of the University joins MSpectrum staff, a subsidiary of Meralco, that will install the solar power project at the CET Bldg. after a meeting.

As part of its sustainable practices, Enverga University launched the P5.7M grid-tied solar power project from Jan. 23 to March 8, as part of its 'Green Initiatives' program, spearheaded by the Office of the President/COO through the Technical Working Group (TWG).

The 87-day project will install a 99.375kWp grid-tied solar power project, a milestone in the University's ongoing efforts to integrate eco-friendly solutions into its infrastructure.

Vice President for Administration Dario Opistan, shared the details of the collaboration with MSpectrum to accomplish the solar power project.

“The project will be installed in the CET Building. The TWG of the University collaborated with MSpectrum, a subsidiary of MERALCO, to set up the solar power project. The collaborative meeting Jan. 23 marked not only the start of the project but also the foundation for strategic partnership to harness clean and renewable energy for the University,” VP Opistan added.

The CET Building houses the College of Engineering and the College of Business and Accountancy. Engr. Cielito Maligalig, Engineering Dean, and Dr. Flormando Baldovino, Business and Accountancy Dean shared their excitement about the project.

“This initiative is a testament to Enverga University's dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainability. By embracing solar power technology, the University is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also setting a positive example for the community and the education sector,” Engr. Maligalig said.

“The 'Green Initiatives' campaign reinforces the University's position as a forward-thinking institution dedicated not only to academic excellence but also to the well-being of the planet,” Dr. Baldovino stated.

Director Leah Salas, Corporate Planning and Development Officer, expressed her enthusiasm about the project. "Our commitment to 'Green Initiatives' reflects our values of mindfulness and excellence. This solar power project aligns with our vision of becoming a globally competitive university while actively contributing to a greener and more sustainable planet.”

Engr. Mark Inojosa of the General Services Department and a member of the TWG also expressed his insights about the project. “With this project, Enverga University continues to lead by example, demonstrating that universities can play a pivotal role in fostering environmental consciousness and actively working towards a brighter, cleaner future,” Engr. Inojosa added.
