For Redeemer Reign “Red” Ilao, excellence is not limited to the classroom, the dance floor, or the competition stage. It is a mindset that guides every step he takes.
A second-year Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering student from the College of Engineering, Red has built a remarkable journey defined by discipline, passion, and perseverance. Whether representing Enverga University in dancesport competitions, training under the prestigious Banyuhay Dance Troupe, or excelling academically, he continues to prove that dedication can turn dreams into reality.
Engineering a Better Future
Red chose Industrial Engineering because he sees its power to create meaningful change.
“A fellow goal-oriented person, I've been motivated by the thought of industrial engineering's ability to help cut down on waste, save time, and increase productivity through process improvement.”
“I want to be involved in creating improved processes and helping others work more efficiently than they previously did.”
His passion for efficiency and innovation reflects the very essence of industrial engineering: finding smarter ways to solve problems and improve systems that benefit people and organizations.
As he continues his studies, he remains focused on developing the skills needed to become an engineer who creates impact through continuous improvement.
A Life Dedicated to Dance
Long before he entered college, Red had already discovered another passion that would shape his life.
“I have always loved dancing since I can remember. I began dancing when I was three years old,”
His talent and commitment led his to become a member of the BED Dance Troupe during both junior high school and senior high school. Through years of training and performances, he developed confidence, discipline, and a deep appreciation for the performing arts.
His achievements in dance speak for themselves. He represented his school in district, city, and national-level dancesport competitions, earned recognition as an Outstanding and Most Outstanding Dance Troupe member from junior high school through senior high school, and maintained academic excellence as a consistent honors student from Grade 6 to Grade 12.
Today, he continues that journey as a Banyuhay Scholar and trainee, a milestone he considers one of his proudest accomplishments.
“Being a trainee for Banyuhay is a goal I have had since I began dancing.”
“It is a reflection of the dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm that I have for dancing.”
Finding Strength Through Passion
Balancing academics, athletics, and performing arts is never easy. Yet for Red, the challenges have only strengthened his resolve.
“My time at Enverga has been more than just study; it has been an adventure full of progress, enthusiasm, and patience,”
The countless rehearsals, competitions, projects, and academic responsibilities taught him valuable lessons about resilience and determination.
“What I have learned through my experience at MSEUF is to never give up on the things I love,”
“There have been times as a student-athlete and student-dancer where fatigue has taken over, the struggles became difficult, and the stress felt like too much. Nevertheless, when you have true passion for the sport, the dance, and the craft, you continue to work hard for yourself.”
For Red, passion and perseverance go hand in hand.
“Passion and perseverance are interconnected. At the end of the day, it will be the value you place on your progress and commitment to your goals that matter.”
The People Behind the Journey
Behind every achievement is a strong support system.
Red credits much of his success to the unwavering support of his family.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my mom, dad, Ate Vianca, and my Kuya Sean for always being there for me. Thank you for supporting me from the very beginning and for always watching my dance performances.”
Their encouragement continues to motivate him to pursue excellence in everything he does.
A Journey Still Unfolding
As a future industrial engineer, accomplished dancer, scholar, and student leader in the making, Redeemer Reign Ilao continues to show what is possible when talent is matched with hard work and purpose.
His story reminds us that success is not about choosing between passions, it is about embracing them all and allowing each one to shape who we become.
β¨From the dance floor to the engineering classroom, Redeemer Reign “Red” Ilao proves that passion and perseverance can move together.
