WCDEO pilots MailerLite for improved email campaigns
As part of the University's ongoing efforts to strengthen digital engagement, the Web Content and Digital Engagement Office (WCDEO) recently tested MailerLite, a dedicated platform for email marketing, to enhance how MSEUF communicates with students, applicants, and stakeholders.
The pilot run allowed the team to explore features that go beyond the limitations of traditional platforms like Microsoft Outlook. During the test campaigns, MailerLite enabled the automation of welcome emails, follow-up messages, and scheduled announcements. These workflows improved the efficiency of email delivery and helped ensure that recipients received messages on time and without being marked as spam.
The test also showcased the platform’s built-in design tools, which allowed for the use of mobile-responsive and customizable templates. This made MSEUF’s digital communications more consistent and visually appealing. In contrast, the current platform lacks these capabilities and relies on manual formatting.
Another key benefit of the test run was access to advanced analytics. The WCDEO team was able to monitor open rates, click-through rates, and engagement levels, helping them refine messaging strategies based on audience behavior and response.
In coordination with the Information and Communications Technology Department and the Data Protection Office, the WCDEO also integrated data from various student groups into the platform.
This included enrolled college students, basic education students, and applicants who did not push through with their enrollment. Through MailerLite’s segmentation features, the University can now create targeted campaigns such as enrollment reminders, student support updates, and program promotions.
Web Content and Digital Engagement Officer John Rover R. Sinag emphasized the importance of transitioning to a more capable platform. “Testing MailerLite opened new opportunities for the University’s communication strategy.
For the first time, we can automate our email flows, evaluate what works, and reach specific groups with relevant and timely content,” Sinag said.
“We are grateful to the administration for supporting this initiative, and we are looking forward to integrating it fully into our communication efforts.” Sinag added.
Following the successful trial, the WCDEO plans to roll out MailerLite officially before AY 2025-2026 begins. The goal is to strengthen institutional outreach, streamline communication, and expand the reach of university updates and campaigns across more audience groups.
