The Web Content and Digital Engagement (WCDE) Team attended UGNAY, the 2025 Philippine Media & Information Literacy Summit, at the Gimenéz Gallery, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, on Nov. 8.
WCDE Officer John Rover Sinag joined Digital Content Creators Simon Romuel Uy and Francess Clar De Jesus, with student assistants Rueil Viana Montserrat and Jiero Jhavier Pasamba, to represent the University.
The team attended three fireside chats on: (1) redefining learning and self-development through AI, (2) preparing the Philippine curriculum for the AI era, and (3) advancing AI literacy at the grassroots level across the region.
Between sessions, participants explored booths and exhibits that showcased practical AI applications and features for education, content production, and civic engagement.
The summit brought together educators, students, creatives, and tech advocates to discuss responsible, human-centered uses of artificial intelligence in learning and communication.
Earlier in November, the WCDE also produced an entry for the Ugn[AI]y content creation competition, submitted by student assistant and University ambassadress Rueil Viana Montserrat. The entry highlighted responsible AI use in classrooms and digital content—a theme echoed throughout the summit.
UGNAY aimed to unite the efforts of individuals, schools, universities, institutions, communities, and organizations toward the 2025 Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week. The event was organized by Out of The Box Media Literacy Initiative, with partners from academe, government, and the creative sector.
MSEUF aligns this participation with its commitment to student-centered learning and outcomes-oriented education. Engaging with national conversations on AI literacy helps our content teams and student leaders translate complex technologies into accessible, ethical practices on campus and in partner communities. This supports our mission to deliver relevant instruction, impactful research, and meaningful service at national and international levels.
