A Design of a Traffic Engineering System In Diversion – Gulang – Gulang Road Intersection in Lucena City
Area of Research
Abstract
Traffic is now becoming a problem in the urbanized areas of Quezon Province, Lucena City in particular. Diversion – Gulang – Gulang Road intersection is known to be one of the busiest roads in Lucena City and a traversing point of private and public vehicles, mass transports, and ordinary commuters bound to Manila, Bicol, Tayabas, Lucena City, and other nearby vicinities. This study was guided by the objectives as follows: (1) to design a traffic engineering system along Diversion – Gulang – Gulang Road intersection in Lucena City; (2) to develop a traffic engineering plan; and (3) to evaluate the designed traffic engineering system relative traffic volume in the area. The traffic engineering plan was designed to control the flow of traffic. The researchers formulated and assessed informations through surveys, interviews, observations and gathering data to support the traffic engineering system plan. And by
using the following concepts provided by the DPWH, ASTM and AASHTO. With this, the researchers highly recommend the designing of a traffic engineering system and providing alternative routes to lessen the traffic in Diversion – Gulang – Gulang road intersection in Lucena City that will help in minimizing and resolving the problems on traffic management in the area.
