Design of Eco-Pavement Bricks using Shredded Plastics and Powderized Dumped Rubber Tires
Area of Research
Abstract
Studies have found that bricks can be used for creating pavement. A brick is taken into consideration to be extra attractive than fundamental, plain tarmacadam surfaces for driveways. It is also found to be economical, hard and durable with low cost maintenance.Production of eco-friendly bricks materials is not about encouraging the production of plastic and tire, but rather a temporary means of protecting the environment while us human figure out a way to cut plastics and dumped tires out of our lives altogether. The eco-friendly bricks with an additive of a low density plastics and tires help for having a good friction: reduce skidding, non slip surface. It has the potential and capability to replace concrete pavement especially for parking area. There are type of bricks based on uses, strength, load bearing capacity, and aesthetic presence. The researchers purpose in this study is adding plastics and tire for having a good properties and characteristics. One of the aims of this study is to provide an eco-friendly material that can be used in the construction world. The researchers assessment proved that the 2% pulverized rubber and 1% shredded plastics additives is the most suitable to improve compressive strength of eco-pavement brick. Its strength for cylinder specimen in compressive test is18.32 Mpa. The estimated cost of eco-pavement brick with 2% powderized rubber and 1% shredded plastic is 21.30 php per piece.
