DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF COURSEWARE FOR VOCABULARY ENHANCEMENT OF GRADE 7 FRUSTRATED READERS

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a courseware for vocabulary enhancement of G7 frustrated readers. A needs assessment was conducted among students and teachers to determine the content of the courseware. Survey questionnaires and evaluation instruments were used in gathering data. Results showed that the target learners really had a problem in reading. The results of the needs assessment were then used as basis for the creation of activities included in the courseware. Localized reading materials were used in the lesson exemplar. With the collaboration of the IT expert, the lesson exemplar was converted to courseware. After developing the courseware, it was subjected to evaluation and validation of IT experts and English teachers. Results revealed that despite of the flaws, they still strongly agreed on the accuracy of the developed courseware. For further improvement, it is recommended that the courseware be subjected to an actual utilization of the frustrated readers to test its effectiveness.
