Abstract

Teachers need exposures, experiences and practices to be able to impart the concepts to students effectively. Furthermore, teachers also need to be innovative in obtaining holistic learning. Relatively, this study analyzed the level of teaching practices of teachers in teaching localization and contextualization and levels its significant influences to the learning skills and performance of the SHS TVL students in Patnanungan District. The respondents of this study were 22 Senior High School teachers and 122 Senior High School TVL students of this district and officially enrolled into different tracks such as Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Bread and Pastry and Cookery. They are purposively selected for the data gathering procedure. This study used survey questionnaires as the main data gathering instrument. The data were treated and analyzed using statistical treatment tools such as Percentage and Weighted Mean and verbally interpreted by using the Likert Scale. The researcher formulated two assumptions to guide the study. The findings indicate that localization and contextualization is a very influential teaching-learning strategy in enhancing the learning skills and performance of the learners. Additionally, the study recommends related seminars and training promoting localized and contextualized teaching-learning processes that can possibly improve the skills and performance of the learners as well as the teaching abilities of the teachers.
