Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of the environment on the possible development of children?s anti-social behavior. It focused on the significant influences of the five important variables that affect the behavior of children such as the family, peers, school, community, and media. The study utilized the descriptive survey method and distributed three separate sets of questionnaire for the teachers, students, and parents of selected public high schools in Quezon Province to gather pertinent data. A focus group discussion was also made to gather qualitative data. Results revealed that the parents, students, and the teachers had the same observations regarding the problems in the environment that lead to anti-social behavior among children in their most impressionable years. The three sets of respondents agreed that the family, peers, school, community and media significantly influenced children?s behavior and have a serious effect on their psychosocial, psychological, and educational development. Based on the findings, a preventive program was proposed and developed to address the problem in public high schools.
