INVESTIGATING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DEPED ORDER NO. 40, S.2012 OR THE CHILD-PROTECTION POLICY IN A MUNICIPALITY IN THE PHILIPPINES

Abstract

This research investigated the implementation of DepEd Order No. 40, s. 2012 or the Child Protection Policy in the thirty-eight (38) public elementary schools in Sariaya in terms of children’s participation in school and community, health and well-being, high academic achievement and success, safe and protective spaces for children, enrollment and completion, teachers’ morale and motivation and community support for education. This descriptive research used quantitative approach through the Child-Friendly School System (CFSS) checklist in order to describe the level of implementation of the school respondents in Sariaya. Results revealed that the child-friendly school policy is very highly implemented in schools. Strong partnership with stakeholders and coordination with authority are also highly adequate to effectively implement it. However, more linkages and partnerships should be established to provide adequate facilities for children.
