DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AN ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES MODULE

Abstract

The study analyzed the communicative language needs of the Grade 11 Technical-Vocational students at Pitogo District of the Department of Education- Quezon. It focused on the creation of a proposed module on English for Academic and Occupational Purposes subject. Through the needs analysis, the study aimed to understand what specific topics and objectives are relevant to be included in the proposed module. The study used the descriptive analytical type of research which used a survey questionnaire for gathering data. The questionnaire used a Likert scale to distinguish different variables from each other. Formula for getting the percentage and weighted mean were used as statistical treatment. Based on the analysis of the language needs of students enrolled in the Technical-Vocational track, a module for English for Academic and Professional Purposes was developed and validated. The validation of the module was done by a pool of selected Senior High School teachers both in English and Tech-Voc Track in order to match the skills, competence, and topics for the students.
