Abstract

"Filipinos usually use their language in their daily conversations. But as time passes by, they don’t speak their language fluently because of the different languages adaptation. In every school in the Philippines, the Filipino subject is injected in the curriculum. Historically, students appreciated the subject due to the principles of the language taught that helped them enhance their skills in the subject in terms of writing and listening and reading comprehension skills. As of now, the subject has seemingly been forgotten and students tend to appreciate the subject as before. This observation inspired the proponents to conduct the study that focuses on the Filipino subject. HiKlat is a mobile application based on the K-12 curriculum of DepEd that with focus on two macro learning skills: pagbabasa (reading) and pakikinig (listening). The application featured three fables that offered moral lessons on message to the user formulate and quizzes that are in form of games. The methodology used for the system is Agile that helps the development of applications deliverable and successful. Adobe Flash and Adobe Photoshop were used to design its interface. The data gathered from Grade 1 students and their teacher, the proponents used quantitative method in the data and information gathering to support the study. The result of the findings of the system earned good feedback which concludes that the system can be used for educational purposes."
