Legal awareness and acceptance of selected rice farmers in Lucena City on Palaycheck System

Abstract

This study attempted to reveal the level of awareness and acceptance of selected rice farmers on PalayCheck System. The researcher used the descriptive method of research which involved the collection, tabulation, analysis and interpretation of data using the simple percentage and weighted mean . Selected fifty (50) rice farmers coming from five barangay’s of Lucena City were used as samples in the research study. The study revealed that most of the farmer respondents were slightly aware to Statement 9 . Know and manage the nitrogen needs of your plants based on LCC and assess other nutrient based on the Minus One Element Technique (MOET) or Nutrient Omission Plot Technique (NOPT) and Statement 14. Use PalayCheck Crop Monitoring Form in the managing the rice crop and listing all the expenses in farming . Nevertheless, this research study found out that farmer respondents were accepted the PalayCheck System. The local government of Lucena City and agricultural agencies be partner in the dissemination of information on PalayCheck System. As agricultural agencies continuously develop new ripe production practices, government should support and act as a tool for its implementation. Government must conduct Information Drive to different barangay’s in Lucena City and invite farmers to participate in order to deliver the importance of PalayCheck System. Implement the Palay Check Field School in partnership with PhilRice in spearheading the project. Give incentives in the form of competition for the highest yield of rice where substantial cash prizes can be won by successful farmers and distribute farmers and distribute farm machineries ( set of thresher, multi-tiller, rice cutter, etc. ) in farmer’s organization.
