CHALLENGES OF POLICE INVESTIGATORS IN SARIAYA AND CANDELARIA, QUEZON

Abstract

This study sought to gather possible recommendations to address the challenges they encounter in investigating crimes. Using Descriptive method of research, the researchers used purposive sampling technique and used structured type of questionaires to gather data. Based on the findings, the police investigators of Sariaya Municipal Police Station and Candelaria Police Station have a mean age of 28 years old; married; Bachelor’s Degree holder (BS Criminology); Police Officer 1 to police Officer 3; and were in service for mean year of 3, Rain or moisture affect the quality of evidence in terms of collecting and gathering evidence; and lack of training in preserving evidence in terms of preservation of evidence were very serious challenges encountered by the police investigators of Sariaya Municipal Police Station and Candelaria Municipal Police Station. Lack of training in interrogation was a serious challenge encountered by the police investigators of Sariaya Municipal Police Station and Candelaria Municipal Police Station in terms of interrogation. It is recommended that police investigators should be more aware that rain or moisture affects the quality of evidence in order to prevent its contamination. They should also undergo additional training to enhance their capabilities in investigating crimes. Furthermore, they should promptly and carefully secure the crime scene at all times to facilitate a speedy resolution of a crime.
