Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the level of performance of Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council in Infanta, Quezon. The study likewise describes the functions and duties of the said MDRRMC before, during and after disaster. The gathering of data was conducted in Infanta through descriptive method. A total of 50 professional respondents and 50 non-professional respondents answered the survey questionnaire. Results revealed that Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council in Infanta are extensively performing their duties and responsibilities in terms of pre-disaster, during disaster, and post-disaster. However, the respondents totally agreed that to improve disaster management, MDRRMC Infanta should strengthen their performance in terms of giving physical and financial assistance to community affected by disasters to help them rebuild and if possible enhance the quality of their life. Identifying dangerous areas is also recommended so that they can respond quickly to those areas in order to avoid-prevent the death of many. It is recommended that MDRRMC Infanta should as much as possible continue to enhance their programs in terms of prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and rehabilitation and recovery. Moreover, Periodic evaluation and feedback should be implemented in all levels by identifying strength and weaknesses to further intensify the program Moreover, the MDRRMC in Infanta, Quezon should promote and advocate for a national increase of a certain equitable percentage of municipal budgets for disaster management purposes. In addition, they should produce hazard and vulnerability consistent modern maps of natural hazards zones to be generated for the entire Infanta, Quezon. And after that, execute a copy of maps to the residents for easy identifying the vulnerable areas to avoid the death of many.
