Effectiveness of Traffic Road signs in Lucena City

Abstract
This study used descriptive survey method to gather information in an attempt to determine the “Effectiveness of traffic road signs in Lucena city.” The study was conducted in the town proper of Lucena City. The respondents of the study particularly are the jeepney drivers. A survey questionnaire was used as the data gathering instrument of this study. It has four parts: includes the demographic profile of the respondents, the level of effectiveness of traffic road signs and the Traffic law that commonly committed by the jeepney drivers.The collected data were treated statistically using standard statistical tools. Percentages, frequency counts, and ranking were used to identify the demographic profile of the respondents. The weighted mean was used to answer problems II – III. Based from the findings, the following conclusions were made by the researchers: Majority of the respondents were ages 35 for the drivers respondents, while ages 45 for the traffic enforcers. They are all males and married, the most of the respondents were secondary graduate for the drivers while for the traffic enforcers’ respondents is vocational. Drivers are 1-5 years in driving.That, the level effectiveness for the : NO ENTRY, SPEED LIMIT SIGN, NO PARKING SIGN and NO BLOWING OF HORNS are very much effective. That, most of the drivers respondents agreed that entering in one way, No Loading and Unloading and No right turn is most commonly violated on the traffic road signs. However, for the responses of the Traffic Enforcer the respondents agreed that No loading and unloading, two way and one way are the most common road sign they violated for the traffic enforcers. In light of the findings and conclusions, the researchers come up with the following recommendations: For the Traffic Enforcers, must intensify their implementation on the traffic road sign rules through strictly punishing the violators. For the PUJ drivers must cooperate with the traffic enforcers to avoid or to lessen traffic. For the LTO department, should provide seminars relative to the traffic road sign for those who are applying for license.
