The Role of the KatarunganPambarangay on Amicably Settling Disputes in Selected Barangay in Lucena City

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the perception of selected barangay Officials towards the role of the KatarunganPambarangay onAmicably Settling Disputes in Selected Barangays in Lucena City. The study reveals that Majority of the respondents were male and they belong to the age group 41-45 years. Most of them were male and secondary graduate. Majority of the respondents were 6-10 years in the service and they are member of the LupongTagapamayapa. That, Majority of the respondents agreed with the statement “KatarungangPambarangay helps in solving cases in barangay level to avoid filing cases in the court” as the level of awareness of the respondents toward the relevance of the KatarungangPambarangay with a weighted mean of 4.53. That, Majority of the respondents agreed with “KatarungangPamabarangay has a vital role in solving cases” with a weighted mean of 4.81 as the perception of the respondents towards the role of the LupongTagapayapa. Majority of the respondents agreed with the statement “KP aims to know if the parties can resolve the problem” with a weighted mean of 4.41 as the respondents towards the effect of LuponngTagapayapa in minimizing courts trials. That, Majority of the respondents agreed with the statement “Avoidance of the parties to attend in the hearings” as the responses on the common problems encountered by the KatarungangPambarangay in amicably settling disputes in the barangay which got a weighted mean of 4.50.
