VILLA ESCUDERO AS A VENUE FOR PROMOTING THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF QUEZON PROVINCE: INPUTS TO A PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Abstract

This study aims to know what kind of developmental plan can be crafted based on the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Villa Escudero in promoting Cultural Heritage. The purpose of this study is to know the perception of people about Villa Escudero as one of the most famous tourist attractions. The study is conducted in Tiaong, Quezon and is limited to the people who are residing near Villa Escudero. The study function also as an educational activity that aims to promote the cultural tourism of Quezon Province in terms of relaxation purpose and recreational activities. This study aims to gather more information on how Villa Escudero enlighten the Filipino culture and heritage that can make them a competitive cultural attraction not only in the Philippines but also in other countries. To determine if the facilities and services of Villa Escudero is one of their means to promote cultural heritage of Quezon Province. The current study used personal interview with one of the managers of Villa Escudero and a total of 50 respondents, 20 from the employees and 30 from the tourists who have been and experienced the facilities, amenities and services of Villa Escudero. The outcome of this study is a developmental plan for Villa Escudero to help them improve their means to promote the cultural heritage of Quezon Province, it will help the tourism industry in Quezon and make the country wildly known in terms of cultural attraction from their museums, famous architecture, and by their traditional Philippine Experience show that showcases the culture and tradition of Filipino and last but not the least their famous waterfalls restaurant which they serve traditional Filipino food to their tourist and at the end of the day they can make sure that everyone who will go there will be satisfied both their needs and wants. The study used the descriptive-evaluative type of research wherein it examined the current scenario of Villa Escudero. An interview protocol and survey questionnaire were also used as primary data gathering instrument. The descriptive design examined the phenomena as they exist (Calmorin & Calmorin, 2012). The evaluative part assesses the current condition of Villa Escudero. The interview protocol and survey questionnaires were used as main guide of the study. The questionnaire is divided into two sections: the first part pertains to the features of Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort while the last part deals with the strengths and weaknesses of Villa Escudero in promoting cultural heritage in Quezon Province.
