Abstract

This research study focused on the child labor and its influence to the behavior and development among children as observed by personnel of DoLE, DSWD, primary teacher and barangay personnel of Dalahican, Lucena City. It also involved the reasons why children work at an early age. Moreover, the study sought to know the legal intervention that need to implement of our government to the child labor. A total of 40 respondents covered the sample size from the personnel of DoLE, DSWD, primary teacher and barangay personnel of Dalahican, Lucena City. A self-made questionnaire was used and personally given to the respondents. Percentage, ranking, and weighted mean were used to evaluate and analyze the gathered data. Results show that the main reasons why children work at an early age are because of poverty and in order to survive their daily needs and to support their family financially. The respondents are unsure that irrelevant and non-attractive school curriculum is reason why children work at an early age. That the children can’t enjoy their childhood and become uneducated when they exposed of being child labor and child labor has a high effect in developing positive outlook in life. As recommended in the study the government needed to implement the law against child labor because it is a most effective way to decrease them in order to protect the child in those hazardous works. Our government needs to conduct feeding program because it is a best way to help the children to maintain a good health and to survive in daily life, giving scholarships to those poor children to extend their knowledge’s. The children can join church activities in order to develop their behavior and to extend their time to God. Also, the children can join sports activities to develop their self-confident.
