A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY ON THE LEVEL OF COMPETENCY OF MSEUF CRIMINOLOGY GRADUATES IN THE FIELD OF PNP

This study aimed to determine the level of competency of MSEUF Criminology graduates in the field of PNP. In this perspective, the researchers utilized the descriptive-survey method of research. A total of 80 respondents answered the questionnaire composed of 50 MSEUF Criminology graduates from batch 2000 to 2011 who were in the field of PNP and 30 Non-MSEUF graduates who were in the field of PNP. The gathering of data was at the police station within the Quezon province such as Lucena City, Tayabas City, Pagbilao, Sariaya, Tiaong, Lucban, Candelaria Police Station and Quezon Provincial Police Office. Findings revealed that students are given knowledge on theories based on the subject matter discussed through theoretical instruction.In terms of practical training the respondents perceived that graduates are taught to become open-minded in every recommendation said in their theses and they were taught to be resourceful in doing their papers. Based on the results views by the respondents through practical training, on the job-training familiarizes graduates with police work and duties and they learn to work cooperatively in a group. Meanwhile, in terms of good moral conduct,the respondents perceived that the students develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values to the highest degree through training in professional ethics, co-curriculum activities and community extension service. In terms of physical fitness, as a result of the data gathered by the researchers it exposes that in the level of competency of MSEUF criminology graduates enrolling in ROTC helped the graduates to train and build bodies and martial arts subject is very useful to become physically fit.The data revealed that through theoretical competence,MSEUF graduates present their views with confidence. Also in terms of technical competence, as perceived by the two respondents, the MSEUF Criminology graduates and Non-MSEUF graduates, MSEUF graduates can perform what they have learned based on the information they acquire.Meanwhile, the respondents shared their views that in terms of communication skills competence,MSEUF Criminology graduates know how to choose the proper medium for communication.
