ASSESSMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE OF BARANGAY POLICE IN SELECTED BARANGAYS IN TAYABAS CITY IN CRIME PREVENTION AND MAINTENANCE OF PEACE AND ORDER

The researchers asked one hundred (100) respondents from selected barangays in Tayabas City to answer the questions that the researchers mention on the sub problems. Based on the findings and information that the researchers got and analyzed from the respondents, the following conclusions are made. Majority of the respondents are male and generally eighteen to twenty two years of age. Most of them are lived in barangay for six to ten years. Criminal activities are lessening in the community because of the presence of Barangay Police. They have the ability to eliminate the opportunity of the criminals to commit criminal activities because they are making a routine in every part of the barangay at day and night. Most of the respondents agreed that the duties and responsibilities of the Barangay Police were fulfilled by them. They also ensure the safety of the people in their barangay in terms of patrolling and by performing their duties and responsibilities. They were able to lessen the possible criminal activities that can be happen to there because they were able to eliminate the opportunity of the criminals to commit the crime. Most of the respondents agreed that the Barangay Police implement programs to maintain peace and order in the community like on enforcing curfew for the youth under eighteen years of age to separate them in engaging in criminal activities. They also make a routine in every part of the barangay to ensure the safety in the community at day and night.Barangay Police are very effective in performing their duties responsibilities. Most of the respondents agreed that the Barangay Police helps a lot in crime prevention and maintenance of peace and order in the community. They also agreed that Barangay Police can respond immediately in any situation when the people call them for help. After analyzing those conclusions that we have mentioned, we suggest and recommend that the people in the community should have a great coordination and good support to the Barangay Police to strengthen the campaign against crimes and Barangay Police must always have a good and friendly personality and never engaged in any illegal activities to maintain a good relation and never lost the trust of the community.
