LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING IN SHIP'S BASIC FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURE AND TECHNIQUES AMONG THE MARITIME SCHOOLS IN LUCENA CITY

This study aimed to determine the level of understanding in ships basic firefighting. The gathering of date was conducted in Manuel S. Enverga University and Inter-global College Foundation, Inc through decriptive reserch. A total of 100 maritime students who have attended basic training which covers the basic firefighting and were experienced in this procedure. Results revealed that the knowledge of basic firefighting can be an edge to have a career and is implies in basic firefighting there is a risk of injury and death. Meanwhile, the problems encountered while performing ships basic firefighting include breakage if fire hoses and nozzle in terms environment. Since the problems can be prevented, it is recommended that maintenance and proper procedure are a must in ships basic firefighting. Moreover, the ship personnel should have proper and strict training to perfect the techniques and procedure to minimize problems in the future.
