OUT OF SCHOOL YOUTH: ITS IMPLICATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEVIANT BEHAVIOR

Abstract
This study aimed to determine the implication of being out of school youth to the development of deviant behavior. This research is designed to have a thorough knowledge of problems of youths on why they cannot attend a formal school and how this situation can lead to them in the development of their anti-social behavior. Specifically,
this study sought to answer the following questions: (1) What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of: age; sex; educational attainment; family structure? (2) What are the reasons why they stop schooling? (3) What are the factors affecting the out of school youth that leads to deviant behavior? (4) What are the possible programs that the local government can provide to the out of school youth in selected barangays in Lucena City? Moreover, youths- 16 years old, who were elementary and/or undergraduate, came from broken family were the subjects of this study.
The findings of this research can lead the community and the government to provide means and programs to prevent the involvement of youths in crimes. Furthermore, this study will help the community to formulate better plans measures to counteract the crimes, and prevent youths from being deviant. Thus, this study recommends that the local government unit may set seminars for parents and youths for the awareness of the effects of being out of school among youth.
