THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE AQUAMODICS RESTO-PARK IN LUCENA CITY: A FEASIBILITY STUDY
Area of Research
Abstract
The Philippines is an agricultural country having an area of 30 million hectares, and 47% of which is agricultural land. Not only that but being an archipelago, it is also rich in terms of bodies of water. The province of Quezon is measured to be one of the places where the abundance of both agriculture and marine life is evident, which is why it is considered to be the “FOOD BASKET of CALABARZON”.
Considering these facts, Quezon is a suitable place for sustaining both agricultural and marine businesses. It is the appropriate location for the establishment of the Aquamodics Resto-Park.
The Aquamodics Resto-Park is inspired by a sustainable method of food production system called aquaponics – where aquaculture and hydroponics complement each other to make growing crops viable. Aquaponics, in other words, is the growing of fish (below) and plants (above) together. In this production system, fish wastes are not seen as waste but as a commodity which serves as the plants’ fertilizer to grow.
Aquamodics Resto-Park is a fast fine restaurant which fills a gap between the inexpensive fast food joints and fine dining restaurants. The main selling point is to offer the customers the taste of fine dining food for a lesser price It will provide options that retain the concept of fast food but promote the comfort and atmosphere of casual dining quality items that consumers crave. Created with the concept of aquaponics, Aquamodics Resto-Park will provide an ambiance of mainly two environments: Ground floor, the Aqua mode will be offering a design wherein you are eating in a boat themed environment surrounded with an aquarium wherein which different varieties of sea creatures are within. Second floor, the Eco Mode, an open space setting and will offer an atmosphere of a hanging garden environment. It is a self-sustaining restaurant; most ingredients will come from Aquamodics Resto-Park’s own self-grown produce.
The menu will be offering mostly seafood, meat, and leafy vegetables. It will be moderately priced and will feature a family style service; it will also have individual portions as well as several other offerings to broaden the appeal to all. The dining experience will be expected to last for about an hour to an hour and a half.
Aquamodics Resto-Park will be offering a mini Park which will showcase the aquaponics where the restaurant gets some of its products.
The Aquamodics Team mission is to provide the best quality of service possible, and be one of the leading resto-parks in the industry; through which shall be achieved by promoting eco-friendly resources for the benefit of the environment. It cares not only for the business itself but also for the community it resides in.
The restaurant will have approximately 64 seats for Aqua Mode and Eco Mode.
The location chosen for Aquamodics Resto-Park is a free-standing, 210 sq. meters lot. It is located at Diversion Road, Ilayang Dupay, Lucena City.
