Abstract

The research study on users who uses Instagram as a tool for social mobilization medium to create an awareness for the citizens in the Philippines, a analysis on the application and focus group discussion are presented and inference discussed regarding about Instagram's effectiveness to the users in terms of accessibility, information dissemination and persuasion. Focus group discussion was used to evaluate and analyze the data gathered. Results revealed that Instagram's narrative structure is straightforward, that gives direct point on what's happening with the society at of the moment, that when it comes to persuasiveness it portrayed to be effective as it when it comes to advocacies depends on how well the photos are presented and how the advocacy tells about the particular issue, and also accessible because it only takes a smart phone, an internet connection and the application itself and that the use of the Instagram is free and can be used anytime and anywhere. It is recommended that the users of Instagram should be more aware of the responsibilities on posting such advocacies, since Instagram has been evaluated to be too straightforward and insensitive in presenting issues, it must be recommended that the posts be more cautious about the way it presents advocacy protests or to improve Instagram’s censorship.
