Generation Gap and Socio-Cultural Influence of the Baby Boomers, X Generation and Y Generation and their Interpersonal Relationship in the Workplace

Abstract

This study focused on generation gap, socio-cultural influence and relationship of the baby boomers, x generation and y generation in the workplace. It employed the descriptive developmental type of research wherein a test before and after the use of instructional material was made to ensure the usability and acceptability. The study was conducted in Capitol of Quezon, Lucena City consisted of the three generation namely baby boomers, x generation and y generation. There were a total of 45 randomly selected employee who were part of the study. It also included the boss or manager of the employee. Frequency, percentage, and weighted mean were used in the statistical analysis. Analysis of the results reveal that the three generation namely baby boomers, x generation and y generation have a different values, attitudes and expectation according to their work, co-workers and workplace. And there is a generation gap between the said three generation. Some of them have a difficulty in communicating with their co-workers.
