PERCEIVED IMPACT OF MOTORCYCLE RIDING IN TANDEM IN CRIME INCREASE AS PERCEIVED BY SELECTED RESIDENTS OF LUCENA CITY

This study aimed to determine the perceived impact of motorcycle riding in tandem in crime increase as perceived by selected residents of Lucena City. The gathering of data was conducted in different respected Barangays of Lucena City and the researchers utilized the descriptive-survey method of research. A total of 100 selected residents-respondents answered the questionnaire. Findings revealed that in terms of level of awareness of the community regarding motorcycle riding in tandem activities in Lucena City, most of motorcycle crime committed is operated by male. When it comes to impact of motorcycle riding in tandem in crime increase, the maneuverability of motorcycle in traffic jams made them favorite getaway vehicle by criminals. Meanwhile, the action taken by the PNP to neutralize riding in tandem operation, additional plans in the occurrence of crime Since the PNP (Philippine National Police) is adopting a strategic policy against criminals riding in tandem on motorcycles thereby rationalizing more aggressive interdiction operations.to combat this growing problem the is regularly conducting check points for motorcycle riders in different parts of the country specially in urban areas.
