Completed2015

Abstract

This project aimed to develop and validate an interactive learning package in teaching Rizal’s life, works, and writings (RZ101) among college students. The researchers looked for good materials which would not only provide sufficient information on the life and works of the national hero to students, but would also capture their interests. The study followed the researchand development (R&D) design. Its main objective was to develop and validate an interactive learning package, composed of learning material and interactive games to beused in teaching Rizal’s Life, Works and Writings course. The findings of the study revealed that the interactive learning package in RZ 101 contains real, authentic, helpful, and relevant activities that suit the needs of the learners. The students found both the interactive material and the interactive games easy to understand though there were challenging activities and games for them to explore to stimulate their minds and creativity. Thus, majority of the respondents agreed that they experienced much improvement in understanding the lessons after being exposed to the interactive games. In technical aspects, the evaluation of the IT experts showed that the developed system complies with the characteristics of a good software based on ISO 25010. Furthermore, the content experts pointed out that the goals and objectives of every lesson are measurable and attainable. In addition, the activities provided for the learners are very much flexible, thus developing their creativity and making them explore and connect their previous and personal experiences with that of Dr. Jose Rizal. Moreover, in terms of the attractiveness of the interactive package, the content experts reveal that it is very much attractivein terms of its drawing, font size, layout, color, and sounds. The researchers made the visuals of the module appropriate for the learners and the content of the course as well. Likewise, the games created are not only academically challenging but also visually stimulating.
