Development and Validation of Interactive Teaching and Learning Modules in Anatomy and Physiology

Completed2015

Abstract

The study of human anatomy and its processes has been identified as a major and basic foundational course for all health science programs. Described as a five-unit course, the bulk of hours combined with complexities of the concepts has posed challenges to instructors to continually look for new strategies that will help the students not just to develop the necessary critical thinking skills but to bring new learning experiences as they journey to their profession in the future. The results of this study showed that the use of the developed interactive module in Anatomy and Physiology demonstrates a progressive improvement in the learning outcomes of students. Moreover, recognition of the importance of the module is best noted by the students as their understanding of the lesson has improved and their knowledge, skills, and attitudes were enhanced. Both the instructors and IT experts also recognized the importance of the module and the possession of needed characteristics of an IM. The evaluation done in this study will serve as an important feedback for the further improvement and enhancement of the module.
