A Correlational Study of Criminology Enhancement Courses and Criminology Licensure Examination Performance Among MSEUF Graduates

Completed2024

Abstract

The Criminology Licensure Examination is one of the major assessment tools that individuals who aspire to become a professional criminologist must be able to surpass. It involves six-core subject areas that each has a corresponding importance in the field of criminology. In preparation for this, some institutions include in their school curriculum a preboard course, just like in the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Manuel S. Enverga University, wherein the graduating students are required to take and pass a ten (10) unit course which is the College Enhancement Course before they could be able to graduate. The study is in line with the seventeen (17) sustainable development goals mandated by the United Nations, which specifically falls under SDG 4 –Quality Education. With these, the study utilized a documentary type of research. The above was used in the analysis of the performance of the graduates both in the College Enhancement Course and Criminology Licensure Examination from the Academic Year 2019 to 2023. It was done through the analysis of the requested copies of the given data from the Office of the Dean. The study revealed that the majority of the examiners within the said parameter years failed in both examinations. Additionally, it suggests that out of six (6) subject courses, only four (4) were deemed significant, and the remaining two (2) subjects, specifically Crime Detection and Investigation and Sociology of Crimes and Ethics, resulted otherwise. Based on these findings, the researchers proposed an investigation plan that caters to the discrepancies found with potential course of action.
