Analyzing Challenges Faced by Fire Officers in Providing Rescue Assistance: Implication for Service Enhancement

Abstract

Fire officers are the professional in charge of overseeing the rescue, prevention, and suppression of fires are known as fire officers. They frequently oversee groups of firefighters and plan emergency responses. This study explored and analyzed the problems encountered by the fire officers in the Lucena City Fire Station in providing rescue assistance in emergencies. Improving the operational effectiveness of fire services aligns with the SDG commitment to “provide access to justice for all” by ensuring timely and equitable emergency responses. The goal to “build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels” highlights the importance of strengthening fire services as integral components of public safety and governance. In this study, the researchers used a descriptive quantitative research method to analyze the solutions and experiences of the fire officers at Lucena City Fire Station. This study used the descriptive method to analyze the solutions, conditions, and experiences of the fire officers at Lucena City Fire Station. To gather valid and reliable information, the researchers provided a consent letter for the respondents before answering the self-structured questionnaire through Google Forms. The result shows that the problems that they encountered in rescue assistance are serious. The findings also imply that coordination and community awareness have a great impact on service enhancement. The final output of the study is a brochure that will highlight the importance of coordination. Therefore, the research recommends that fire officers can increase their service improvement if they have proper communication in the community and other agencies. In order to successfully address life safety issues and attain fire ground results, firefighters must possess the requisite capacity for readiness to respond.
