Completed2024

Abstract

The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) is a community-based organization in the Philippines aimed at maintaining peace and order at the barangay or village level. These teams were composed of volunteers who were trained to respond to various situations that could threaten the safety and security of the community. The main objective of this study was to determine the role of BPATs as a strategy for fostering collaboration between the police and the community. Specifically, it examined the effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams in addressing crimes experienced in the community. This study utilized a descriptive quantitative method as the main research design. The scope of the study focused on the implementation of BPAT in Barangay Ibabang Dupay, Lucena City. Both police officers and community members served as the main participants of the study, selected through simple random sampling. Furthermore, a selfmade Likert Scale questionnaire was used to collect the necessary data, serving as the primary research instrument aligned with the research objectives. The findings revealed that the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT) play an important role in the community's well-being. It was also revealed that BPAT employs different activities to attain the objectives of the organization. These are vital in safeguarding the security and safety of the community. The researchers also recommended establishing an awareness campaign to further link the objectives of BPAT to the community. In this manner, there will be more interest in being a member of the said organization.
