Evaluating the PNP’s Emergency Response Time: A Community-Based Analysis

Completed2025

Abstract

This research assessed the Philippine National Police (PNP) Sariaya emergency response time from the people's point of view with the aim of improving public safety and enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement. The research employed a descriptivequantitative method, using surveys from 384 respondents from 43 barangays in Sariaya, Quezon. The research examined demographic profiles, current emergency procedures, response times, challenges encountered, and general community satisfaction. Statistical measures like frequency distribution and weighted mean were used in the analysis of the data. Results indicated improvement opportunities in public knowledge of PNP procedures, with a mean score of 2.29. Response times were rated at an average of 2.33, pointing towards process improvement for quicker assistance. Major issues such as gaps in communication and availability of resources hampered efficiency in general. Public satisfaction with the PNP emergency response was measured at 2.13, highlighting the importance of service improvement to address public expectations more effectively. These findings highlight the imperative to improve operational systems and community interaction in order to enhance coordination between residents and the PNP. In order to respond to these concerns, the study suggests raising public awareness of emergency protocols through specialized educational programs, improving response efforts by addressing logistical challenges, and enhancing collaboration between the PNP and the people. As a major product, the study suggests the creation of community workshop entitled "Ugnayan para sa Aksyon: SK sa Pangunahing Tugon sa Panahon ng Emergency." This program is meant to empower community and enhance collective safety efforts. Finally, the study helps towards the general goal of establishing inclusive, safe, and resilient communities in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 16.
