Completed2024

Abstract

This study examined the fostering of ethical leadership and its impact on the duty performance of Philippine National Police (PNP) officers, focusing on the Lucena City and Tayabas City Police Stations. Using a descriptive research method, data were collected from 142 police officers using survey questionnaires to investigate the relationship between ethical leadership and performance measures such as work performance, values, and community participation. The study examined how ethical leadership, characterized by trust, honesty, and justice, influences work performance, values, and community participation in the PNP. Ethical leadership, defined by trust, fairness, and honesty, is critical to developing professionalism and effectiveness in law enforcement. Leaders who are honest, respectful, and accountable inspire their staff to work effectively and follow high ethical standards. This research emphasizes the relevance of ethical leadership in maintaining organizational standards, increasing transparency, and building trust between leaders and subordinates. The results are beneficial within the PNP organization, including the PNP, government agencies, community leaders, and future researchers. These findings may be used to design leadership training programs, policies, and procedures that aim to improve the PNP’s integrity and professionalism. Furthermore, the results might help to shape legislation and efforts that promote ethical behavior and accountability in law enforcement. Community leaders may utilize the findings to push for reforms and develop connections between law enforcement and the public. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of ethical leadership in establishing a more professional, successful, and reliable police force.
