EFFICACY OF SAN FRANCISCO POLICE STATION’S APPROACH TO ADDRESSING CRIMES IN REMOTE BARANGAYS

Abstract

This study evaluated the approaches of the San Francisco Police Station to crime incidents and assessed their effectiveness in far-flung barangays of San Francisco, Quezon. Due to their remoteness, these areas posed unique challenges to law enforcement, as they were geographically isolated and lacked access to essential resources. It also analyzed police responses, available resources, accommodations, and local collaborations. Additionally, the study identified barriers encountered by law enforcement and assessed public satisfaction with police services in these remote areas. A descriptive quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing surveys conducted among residents in sixteen (16) far-flung barangays. The target population was selected through purposive sampling to gather critical insights into the effectiveness of police strategies and the challenges faced in delivering law enforcement services. Descriptive statistics, including percentages and weighted means, were used to evaluate police performance in crime reduction. The findings of this study contributed to the development of a handbook designed to enhance police response to crime in remote settings. Furthermore, the results provided insights to improve police-community relations. It is concluded that there is the effectiveness of San Francisco Police Station addresses crime incidents in remote barangays in terms of Police Response, Accommodation and Recording, Resources, and Local Collaboration. It was also found that the community members are generally satisfied with the police’s approach to addressing crime incidents in remote areas. Thus, it is recommended to improve further and strengthen the crime prevention efforts of police officers in addressing criminalities in remote areas.
