Completed2024

Abstract

The world believes that to achieve development, every government must ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages, ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, protect and restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable manage forests, combat desertification, and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss. Thus, this study sought to analyze the level of awareness of the citizens of Lucena City about the implementation of the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act in Lucena City, determine the community's awareness of proper waste segregation, determine the level of compliance of the community in RA 9003, evaluate the effectiveness of the segregation process of RA 9003, evaluate the effectiveness of the segregation process of RA 9003, and determine the common problem in the implementation of RA 9003 in terms of segregation, recycling , and reducing processes. This study used a descriptive method to come up with specific and concrete results. Based on the information gathered from the respondents, the researchers found out that respondents are aware that Republic Act 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, exists and is implemented. This awareness is crucial for effective waste management; the community complies with the existing Republic Act 9003 and often follows a designated collection schedule for household waste; Lucena City has adequate waste separation facilities and infrastructure that is one of the mandates of Republic Act 9003; and having designated facilities or programs in the community that promote waste reduction such as recycling centers or composting programs are seldom a problem in the community.
