Abstract
This study delves into an investigation of environmental knowledge, awareness, and practices pertaining to solid waste management within Barangay Dalahican, Lucena City. The primary objectives encompass an in-depth oxploration of prevalent waste types, an assessment of current waste management practices in correlation with community awareness, and shaping environmental practices related to waste management. By employing a structured survey questionnaire, the research seeks to discern the various types of waste predominant in the area, evaluate the efficacy of current waste management methods vis-a-vis community awareness, and uncover the nuanced impact of socioeconomic and cultural factors on waste handling behaviors . Furthermore, the study endeavors to gauge the effectiveness of existing waste management initiatives in augmenting environmental practices and enhancing awareness levels within the community. Through this comprehensive investigation, the research aims to provide valuable insights pivotal for informed policy-making and strategic interventions, ultimately fostering sustainable waste management practices and nurturing a heightened environmental consciousness within Barangay Dalahican, Lucena City. Findings indicate prevalent organic and non-biodegradable waste. Residents demonstrate high awareness and active participation in waste segregation. Socio-economic status influences waste management behaviors, with higher income associated with better practices. Cultural norms also shape waste disposal habits. These insights inform policy-making for sustainable waste management and environmental cosciousness.
