Completed2024

Abstract

This study was conducted as a need analysis on the emergency response team student organization in the MSEUF College of Maritime Education. The aim identified the existing strengths and weaknesses of the organization's emergency response capabilities, as well as the specific areas that required improvement. Data collection involved a survey among members of the organization involved in emergency training. The findings revealed various aspects that needed attention, including training gaps, lack of resources, and limited coordination with external emergency response agencies. Based on the concluding results, recommendations enhanced the organization's emergency response preparedness. These included developing a comprehensive training program, improving access to necessary equipment and resources, fostering collaboration with external emergency response entities, and establishing protocols for effective communication during emergencies. By addressing these identified needs, the emergency response team student organization in the MSEUF College of Maritime Education could significantly enhance their capabilities to effectively respond to emergencies and contribute to a safer campus environment. The research findings identified several key challenges that need to be addressed to establish and maintain an Emergency Response Team (ERT) student organization at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation College of Maritime Education (MSEUF-CME). Participants agreed that securing funding and resources, recruiting and retaining members, and providing effective leadership and expertise are crucial. They also highlighted the importance of sustaining motivation and engagement, balancing organizational demands, and coordinating activities with other departments and organizations. Meeting safety regulations and procedures establishing and maintaining a communication plan, assessing the effectiveness of the ERT, implementing improvements, and adapting to the evolving needs of the MSEUF community were also seen as essential for the long-term success of the ERT student organization at MSEUF-CME.
