Design of Prestressed Concrete Bridge Connecting Brgy. Walay and Brgy. San Vicente along Ipil River in Padre Burgos, Quezon

Completed2024

Abstract

The Brgy. Walay and Brgy. San Vicente in Padre Burgos, Quezon is separated by a 50-meter-wide river which the locals find difficulty in crossing during emergency cases. Hence, the study mainly focuses on the design a 90-meter pre-stressed concrete bridge with complete plans, technical specifications, bill of materials, cost estimates, and evaluation with building code standards. Research & Development research design was utilized and post-tensioning method was used by the researchers. The researchers gathered data using survey questionnaires for the locals of Brgy. Walay and Brgy. San Vicente and within the community on the riverside of Ipil River. The survey conducted has two parts and it reveals that the indicators were strongly agreed by the respondents with general weighted mean 4.32 and 4.42 respectively. In addition, the researchers analyzed the factors such as depth of the river floor, the height, and the condition of the ground, consideration to the environment, soil analysis data and concepts behind prestressed concrete bridge. The study reveals that the design bridge will be essential in terms of efficient transportation, boost in economy, and advancement of tourism of the municipality. Moreover, technical specification, complete material cost estimate and the total cost excluding the labor cost were provided. The total material cost was Php 54, 010, 224 and the project will be accomplished in 365 working days. At the end of this study, the researchers recommended the future researchers of this study to gather necessary data such as hydraulic data, rainfall and flood analysis to determine the accurate height of the bridge. Also, the researchers suggest to conduct soil boring test to determine the soil pressures in the site. The proposed design of pre-stressed concrete bridge benefits the transportation of the Local Community, tourism and economic development of the Municipality of Padre Burgos, Quezon.
