Level of Awareness on the Crime Prevention Programs of the Residents in Calauag Quezon: Basis for Enhanced Crime Prevention Programs

Abstract

This study aims to determine the different crime prevention programs implemented in the municipality and assess the level of awareness of the residents in Calauag, Quezon, regarding crime prevention programs. It is a tool that can help increase the public safety of the community residents regarding the dangers of crime. The study uses a descriptive design in the questionnaire checlist as the main instrument for gathering the respondets'data. Frequency Percentage and weighted mean were used as statistical tools for this research. Purposive sampling techniques were used in this study with a sample size of one hundred (100) respondents from the PNP personnel and the two (2) barangays in Calauag, Quezon. The assessment of the Level of awareness as perceived by the community residents wast that they were moderately aware of the different crime prevention programs implemented by the PNP. The result showed that the PNP personnel and the community residents in Calauag, Quezon, encpuntered severe problems while executing the crime prevention program. In addition, it revealed that the problems encountered were the public's lack of cooperation, which tends to weaken the relationship with the police, and the inappropritaeness/outdatedness of crime prevention probrams in the community. It shows that there is a lack of trust in the people when it comes to their safety and an ineffective crime prevention program.
