Traffic Congestion: Its Implication to the Drivers of Private and Public Utility Vehicles in Lucena City, Quezon
Abstract
The level of traffic congestion in Lucena City is steafily incrasing and impairing the efficiency and performance of the drivers. This is because the slow movements of traffic flow due to increasing volumes of vehicles is very serious and should be reduced and minimized. The researchers used a quantitative approach to the research design. The convenience sampling survey method of research was used in this study to gather information. The convenience sampling method was utilized since it is designed to select the inclusion of the respondents because they are the easiest for the researchers to access. The researchers proposed a number coding scheme as the final output that aims to reduce the increasing volumes of private and public vehicles in Lucena City. The number coding scheme will be implemented by assigning an automobile based on the last number of its plate. For instance, numbers 1 and 2 are not allowed to travel every Monday, numbers 3 and 4 are not allowed every Tuesday, 5 and 6 are not allowed every Wednesday, numbers 7 and 8 are not allwoed every Thursday, number 9 and 0 are not allowed every Friday, and during weekend such as Saturday and Sunday, there is no implementation of the color-coding scheme which means private and public vehicles are not restricted to travel regardless of the last digi of its plate.
