Completed2023

Abstract

It is hoped that the increased use of body-worn cameras by police departments across the country would result in a reduction in the frequency of instances of officer misconduct and an improvement in the fairness of the criminal justice system. The quick adoption of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement agencies has been helped along by these incidents. This study identified the effectiveness of body cameras in police operation. The researcher employed a descriptive design of research to discuss the benefits of the variables to the respondents. The nuanced perspectives expressed by the respondents provide valuable insights for policymakers and law enforcement agencies seeking to leverage technology for improved policing outcomes. The researcher utilized a random sampling technique to determine the possible police officers' respondents who have experience in the operation. The statistical analysis, specifically used pearson r conducted to assess the relationship between perception and effectiveness in terms of transparency and accountability, yielded results that led to the acceptance of the null hypothesis in both cases. The test results using Pearson r which are 1.72 for transparency and 1.58 for the effects, compared against the critical valueof 2.365 at a 0.05 level of significance , suggests that there is no statistically significant difference between the perception and effectiveness of body cameras in these dimensions.
