Tagayan Ritual: A Perspective of Transformative Tourism on the Safeguarding and its Promotion in the Selected Municipalities of Quezon Province

Abstract
The main purpose of the study is to find and learn about the safeguarding and innovative
methods that are being implemented in municipalities to achieve the goal of safeguarding as
well as the promotion of the Tagayan Ritual into a transformative travel experience for
tourists. To give light to this study, the researchers used a qualitative approach,
questionnaires, and interviews to gather the needed information and data. Hence, the
information gathered includes the availability of data provided by the chosen participants through the interviews which are conducted as well as the questionnaires provided. It revealed that the Tagayan Ritual is indeed a significant practice of Quezon it bears the values of camaraderie, hospitality, generosity, and friendliness of communities of Quezon that hold a huge potential in offering a culturally enriching experience to tourists. Our ancestors originally practiced these practices as pastime entertainment or during significant occasions. Currently, this practice is promoted as welcoming gestures to tourists that show a transformative shift in the practice that serves a unique travel experience for the tourists. Strategies of different government units and organizations have been exhibited. A few numbers of municipalities nad private organizations promote these programs and projects Due to the lack of manpower and funding for this practice, different issues and challenges of varying aspects have been experienced while promoting this ritual. The impact of this practice on the tourism industry of the province is very significant as this practice touches many aspects of the community. As it is concluded, according to different segments of our questionnaire in terms of the background knowledge about the Tagayan Ritual in chosen municipalities of Quezon, it has long originated from the livelihood of the people of Quezon. Notably, there have been variations in how it is presented in different municipalities, but the principal aspect of it is something that is passed down to generations, and that is one of the visions of Tagayan is to spread cultural awareness to the younger generation of this . The researchers recommend that in terms of defining Tagayan Ritual in the selected municipalities pof Quezon, there should be comprehensive and detailed data on the significance of theses Rituals in different elements or aspects. To properly assess the challenges and address them, the need for the cooperation of different government agencies, organizations, and private sectors.
