Influential Factors in Students’ Specialization Preferences Under the Hospitality Management Course in MSEUF-CIHTM Lucena

Abstract

Choosing a study program is one of the main factors that causes difficulty for students in terms of their career choice, especially when it comes to getting into field they want to work in. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the influential factors that influence students' choice of a specialization in hospitality management and how these factors affect their decision to achieve their objectives and career path in the hospitality industry. The respondents of the study were 100 first-year undergraduate students taking the Bachelor Science in Hospitality Management with specialization in Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation- Lucena City. The study utilized descriptive research using the quantitative approach, which included a survey questionnaire to gather data. The results of this research show that the highest influencing factors of students are the economic outlook of the industry, social media, the alignment of their interest and skills to the course, knowledge of the trends in the industry, and their confidence that they have in the course. The output of this study is an infographic that will help students in their career path by guiding them in choosing their specialization through the said output.
