Potential outcomes of this research included curriculum enrichment, inspiring current students with success stories, enhancing employer trust, and aiding strategic planning at various levels. The study aimed to develop a comprehensive skills training plan accessible to students and recent graduates, offering valuable insights into the hospitality and tourism industry.
Using a descriptive research method, data was gathered through surveys to analyze the educational impact of the program, identify employment patterns, assess skills application, and understand alumni contributions to the field. The study focused on entry-level position and career progression within the first fey years post-graduation, emphhasizing skills such as customer service, problem-solving, critical thinking, management, risk management, cultural competence, marketing, financial management, technology, and innovation. Communications skills, adaptability, and critical thinking were also highlighted.
The study's findings indicated that most respondents were 2019 female graduates currently employed, primarily in customer service-related roles, within six months of graduation. The majority had enhanced their communication skills post-graduation and continued to utilize them in their workplaces. While most of the alumni are employed, many are working in other industries, particularly in the customer service sector, due to their strong communication skills. This career mismatch highlights the lack of a strong network within the hospitality and tourism industry, which has prevented them from fully utilizing their college degress.
Recommendations included prioritizing career advancement opportunities, establishing effective mentorship programs, boosting graduates' confidence in job applications, strengthening engagement between graduates' confidence in job applications, strengthening engagement between graduates and the institutions, and enhanving graduates' skills aligned with their career goals.
