Completed2024

Abstract

The study assessed Batangas academic library personnel technology skills. This study examined the technological competencies of library personnel in selected Batangas Colleges and identified the need for training and orientation in information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, data security, and privacy, and problem-solving in integrated library systems. Surveys or descriptive studies were employed to collect data from a population. Library personnel's technical competencies were assessed using a validated researcher-made questionnaire. Purposive sampling was used to select the respondents of the study concerning the criteria set by the researcher: (1)library personnel (2) currently working in private colleges in Batangas province (3) either knowledgeable or not knowledgeable in terms of technology and (4) either part-timer or full time library personnel. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and chi-square test of independence. The library staff was grouped by age, job, and tenure. Most answers were from ages 41-50. Full-time librarians outnumbered part-time. Most said from 1-3 years of employment status. Batangas private college library personnel should benefit. Information and data literacy, communication, teamwork, and digital content development were library personnel strengths. Gender did not affect librarians' education and tech skills were the salient abilities a 21st-century librarian must have. The research suggested librarians attend more ICT conferences, seminars, and workshops. Seminars, workshops, and job-specific training demands were affected by library personnel issues. SOS: Help with Technology for Library Personnel was implemented through events, training, and lectures.
