Parents’ Perceptions on the Effectiveness and the Role of School Libraries in Scholastic Literacy Program among Selected Private Elementary Schools within Batangas Province: A Basis for the Enhancement of the Program

Abstract
the study examined parental perceptions of the scholastic literacy program's effectiveness and the role of school libraries in selected private elementary schools in Batangas Province. It aimed to identify areas for program enhancement. Employing a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative surveys and qualitatitve written responses, the research investigated specific objectives and questions. It explored parental views on various program aspects, such as objectives, instructional strategies, assessment techniques, intervention activities, and monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, it examined parental perceptions of school libraries' roles, focusing on benefits, resource usage, communication, and parental involvement. The study also examined the relationship between parental perceptions of program effectiveness and school library roles. Challenges in program implementation are identified, including resource constraints, student difficulties, and communication gaps. By purposively sampling parents and utilizing structured questionnaired and semi-structured written responses, the study gathers insights into parental perspectives. Overall, findings reveal positive perceptions of the program and school libraries, highlighting their importance in literacy skill development. However, challenges necessitate resource allocation, tailored student support, and enhanced communication channels. Recommendations include increased resource allocation, tailored student support, improved communication, and greater community involvement. Addressing these recommendations is crucial for enhancing program impact and adfancing literacy education in Batangas Province's private elementary schools.
